MagIQ Square is a game that makes it possible to solve thousand-year old puzzles on your 21st century touch device.

Those who like Wordfeud or Sudoku are likely to love the MagIQ Square. Solving the MagIQ Square requires logic and strategic thinking while also providing a little bit of mental math workout. It is possible to compete against oneself, and challenge others, at different levels of difficulty. This is one of few puzzle games with a leaderboard. The premium version contains no adverts, no in-app purchases, and no funny sounds - just plain ‎brain-training fun.

A magic square is a grid of numbers where the sum along any row, column or diagonal is equal. This sum is called the magic constant, and is always the same for a certain grid size and set of numbers. For example, in a 4-by-4 grid populated by the numbers 1-16, the magic constant will always be 34. There are more than 20 trillion different start configurations, but there is always at least one solution.

Several ancient civilizations were familiar with magic squares. The concept is believed to have originated in China some time BC and slowly diffused to medieval Europe via Persia, India and Arabia. Magic squares have tantalized mathematicians for centuries and have been associated with mystical properties and hidden messages - perhaps most recently in Dan Brown’s novel “The Lost Symbol”.
